Profile: Conference Services Manager Alexandra Van Leer

A nearly 11-year veteran of Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North, Conference Services Manager Alexandra Van Leer loves infusing creativity and energy into every program, and working with her clients to bring their unique vision to life.

According to Van Leer, meeting trends for 2017 include healthier menus, “grab and go” options to cater to different tastes, and an abundance of natural textures and colors. An avid follower of the Pantone color of the year, Alex notes that this year’s color – greenery – speaks to new beginnings, affirmation and zest for life, all elements she sees playing a role in meeting décor.

Some of her favorite events to date include a poolside event from one of her groups, which featured white, oversized balloons lining the walkway into the pool and set floating over the water. The event was complemented by a DJ across the pool spinning electronic music, a full open kitchen built poolside, and arched standing lamps set over the tables adorned with white antlers and dusted succulents in the center. Van Leer delights in the unexpected, and small touches to take an event from beautiful to breathtaking.

She is confident in the planning process, knowing she is backed every step of the way by her Four Seasons team. “The team here is just as invested in the flawless execution of an event as the client who is planning the program,” says Van Leer. The best tips for a seamless program? Plan, plan, plan! Van Leer notes the more detailed the event order, the better. Clear communication on all aspects and expectations of the program helps everyone be on the same page. Once the program begins, everything should fall into place, making small changes or additions easy to incorporate.
